ABOUT
Our mission is to educate and enrich family and community life in the Fenway area through educational, language and technology resources. Our services include basic-to-advanced computer training, extensive job and skill-building workshops, an After School program, and English as a Second Language (ESL) courses for our linguistically-diverse community.
HISTORY
Operation P.E.A.C.E. was founded in 1995 in the Village of Bedford Pine (Atlanta, GA) when thirty-three concerned college students united to help children escape from the crime and drugs that plagued their community. With the financial support of Wingate Companies LLC, and the leadership of Edna Moffit (Executive Director, Operation P.E.A.C.E., Atlanta), college students and volunteers from Wingate's staff joined forces to convert an old laundry room into a computer-learning center.
Pleased with the success of Operation P.E.A.C.E. in Atlanta, Wingate Companies LLC opened Operation P.E.A.C.E. (Boston) at its Peterborough Street Housing location in Boston on January 23, 2001. Its mission follows the same direction as the Georgia group, namely to provide education and community enrichment. Through its After School, Computer Open Access center, and Summer Academy, Operation P.E.A.C.E. (Boston) serves both the young and old affordable housing populations in the Fenway area.
